Story | Plot
Amar is the head of a black-ops team that is called in by Police Chief José to bring justice to the group of masked vigilantes who killed Stephen Raj (after his arrest and subsequent release after he was arrested for helping Adaikalam and Anbu get drugs from Inspector Bejoy), ACP Prabhanjan and his foster son Karnan. Amar leads the investigation by digging into Karnan’s life as his murder is out of place as Karnan was a common man and the other two were senior officials in the narcotics division. He learns about Karnan’s recent addictions to alcohol, drugs and prostitutes, while being very protective of his young foster son. During the investigation, Amar learns about two missing containers of drugs being chased by Sandhanam, who runs a much bigger drug syndicate than Adaikalam, named Vetti Vagaiyara.
The two containers had to be delivered to his cold-blooded smuggling boss, Rolex, whose identity is unknown. If the drugs are delivered, Rolex will help Sandhanam form his own government or Sandhanam and his family will be killed. Amar slowly discovers that all of Karnan’s addictions were actually a ruse to cover up his covert operation. Meanwhile, Veerapandian, a PWD officer, sets up a meeting with other gangsters at the theater where he reveals that he and a contractor named Rudra Pratap know the location of the drug containers as they want to bring the containers to Rolex, bypassing Sandhanam in the process. However, masked vigilantes arrive and kill Veerapandian. Through the tracking chip left behind by Karnan, Amar successfully captures one of them, who is revealed to be Bejoy. Amar interrogates Bejoy, who reveals that his family was killed after he busted a drug shipment that led him to the patrol.
Realizing that Rudra Pratap is also targeted by the members, Amar and his team sneak into Rudra Pratap’s daughter’s wedding ceremony where Rudra Pratap has also invited Sandhanam for protection fearing for his life and family. The masked men along with their leader arrive at Rudra Pratap’s daughter’s wedding, where the leader threatens Rudra Pratap by holding his daughter at knife point. The leader drags Rudra Pratap and runs away from the wedding on a bicycle, leaving the other members to deal with Sandhanam. However, Sandhanam manages to defeat everyone. Amar chases the leader and eventually confronts him. The leader conducts a video call with Sandhanam and it turns out to be Karnan who is actually alive and has faked his death. Karnan kills Rudra Pratap and escapes from the police. Amar reveals that Karnan is actually Vikram, who was the former commander of a group of black ops pilots. Vikram’s team, consisting of 12 members, was disbanded after a botched mission in 1991 and its members declared terrorists.
The agents and their families were subsequently chased down and killed, but Vikram and the other three members managed to survive. Amar meets Jose and finds out that Jose himself is Sandhanam’s mole in the department. It is revealed that Prabhanjan was captured by Sandhanam with Jose’s help. Sandhanam interrogates Prabhanjan about the containers and after Prabhanjan refuses to divulge any information, he murders him. Jose, Veerapandian and Rudra Pratap cover up the murder by making it look like a terrorist attack. Amar arranges a bomb blast at Sandhanam’s house, which destroys his bungalow and his drug lab in the basement. Jose informs Sandhanam in time and everyone except Sandhanam’s brother Elang manages to escape the blast. Jose reveals the identity of Vikram and Amar to Sandhanam. Later, Vikram arrives at the jail and frees Bejoy and his team. Sandhanam brutally kills Amar’s wife Gayathri by cutting off her head and sends his men to attack and kill Vikram’s daughter-in-law and grandson at Prabhanjan’s house.
Deducing this, Vikram rushes to their rescue, where Vikram’s pilot Black Squad team member and companion, Agent Tina, undercover as a housekeeper under the name Valliamma, is killed while protecting Vikram’s daughter-in-law and grandson. . Vikram eventually manages to save them. Distraught over Gayathri’s death, Amar joins Vikram’s gang to destroy Sandhanam and his syndicate. He goes to Jose’s house and kills him after learning about his involvement in Gayathri’s murder. It turns out that the reason for Vikram’s actions is not revenge, but an attempt to destroy the drug syndicate in the city, which is reflected in his death of Prabhanjan. He also admits that Prabhanjan was his own biological son. Vikram and his grandson arrive at the Chennai port where the containers are hidden. Sandhanam learns about the location of the containers and attacks Vikram. Vikram mows down Sandhanam’s men with cannons and an M2 Browning, but the remaining members of his commando Pilot Black, Agents Uppiliappan and Lawrence are also killed as they try to protect Vikram’s grandson.
Vikram fights and overpowers Sandhanam, blowing him up along with his containers. Amar mourns Gayathri’s death and when the syndicate is destroyed, he dons greasepaint to continue Vikram’s mission by joining his team along with Bejoy. Bombay, Anbu and Adaikalam arrive at Sassoon Docks with their men. They meet gangsters associated with Sandhanam and have a meeting with their boss Rolex. Adaikalam and Anbu reveal Dillia’s involvement in the drug heist and Sandhanam’s men reveal Vikram and Amar’s involvement in destroying their drug syndicate and killing their leader. Rolex announces a huge sum as a reward for the execution of the team of Amar, Dilli and Vikram. They also reveal Dilli’s current location in Bundelkhand, Uttar Pradesh, and Vikram’s family in San Francisco. Unknown to Rolex and everyone else at the meeting, Vikram hides among the gangsters and learns of the reward given to his team and Dilli.
